As one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated wastewater treatment facilities, the Hyperion Water Treatment Facility is a vital component of the Southern California regional infrastructure.

November 23, 1998 is considered by many Southern Californians as the most important day in the history of healing Santa Monica Bay. On this day, the City of Los Angeles' Hyperion Treatment Plant operated at full secondary treatment capacity for the first time in nearly half a century. This achievement assured the 4 million residents of Los Angeles and millions of more neighbors and visitors that the world-renowned Santa Monica Bay would be protected from wastewater pollution for future generations.

JGM provided architectural and construction management services over ten years of phased construction, during which the existing water treatment facility remained in full operation.

The Hyperion program involved new construction, rehabilitation and general expansion of a multitude of facilities. Construction activities within this program included eleven separate hundred million dollar contracts as well as upgrading and rehabilitation of twenty seven wastewater pumping station and several collection systems.
