The team of JGM and Warner Brothers International Cinemas is designing a state of the art design for a 4 screen cinema and education facility located in the Community Redevelopment District of the Cultural Crescent in the Watts area of Los Angeles

Overcoming the challenge of a small cramped site, JGM has coordinated the reinforcement and build over of a county sewer permitting a more economical single story facility. Additional buildable site area was leveraged by placing code required parking in the street. In order to accomplish this JGM worked with the City of Los Angeles to vacate the street in front of the theater while leaving it essentially open to through traffic.

The project consists of four, 300 seat theatres, with one cinema serving a triple function of commercial cinema, performing arts theatre and configured for interactive conferencing. The education portion consists of 13,000 gsf dedicated to skills critical to today’s entertainment industry. The entire facility is wired to facilitate internet learning whether inter-connecting two classrooms within the building or connecting to classrooms outside the facility anywhere in the world.
