| As part of the program management of the Northridge campus seismic repair and reconstruction, JGM provided comprehensive project management and construction management services for the state-of the art facility housing the Departments of Communication Studies, Journalism and Radio Television-Film. Designed by Yale School of Architecture dean, Robert A.M. Stern, Mazanita Hall accommodates both traditional academic space as well as some of the most advanced spaces nationwide for teaching new entertainment and multi-media technologies. The L shaped building forms a cornerstone for the new Sierra Quad to which it affords a sweeping view from a two story glazed windows and houses a projection guild certified 35 mm, 60 mm DVD and HDTV 130 seat screening room, computer labs and lecture spaces with direct hookups to the vast videotape collections of the Oviatt library, as well as studios capable of broadcasting live from various areas of the campus. Television and film production is supported by 7,000sf professional sound studios, a sound editing Foley Room, background imagine blue room and 24 editing bays. The site was previously occupied by the School of Art, which after sustaining substantial earthquake damage was relocated to the new Art & Design Center, north of the Oviatt. |
