The LAX Security Enhancement Program - Draft Implementation Plan (DIP)
recommended a Proto-Typical facility to screen employees and vehicles
entering the AOA Airfield Operations Area (AOA).
LAWA subsequently requested further refinement of this concept towards
next stages of implementation. The study areas included:
• Time-Motion Studies, including queing, throughput and conflict
analyses.
• Site Massing Studies, providing visualization of each SAAP situation.
• Morphology and Optimization of each configuration for even flows
at peak demand.
• Establishing Landscaping & Lighting within space and budget.
• Sourcing of both Airport Master Plan and Master Plan EIR/EIS
will be sourced for demand estimates and SAAP siting. Screening facility
spatial requirements were developed, and general terminal planning parameters
applied to estimate number of screening lanes to accomodate peak flows.
JGM worked closely with LAWA developing multiple conceptual approaches
satisfying their functional needs. Once basic elements enabling TSA
compliant screening were established, variations were developed for:
• Employee Entry
• Large Vehicle Entry
• Low volume gate access
