Metro Eastside Lightrail Extension

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (LACMTA) selected the JGM Joint Venture team to prepare a reevaluation/major investment study (Reevaluation/EIS) and Draft and Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement / Environmental Impact Report (SEISS/EEIR) for the Eastside Light Rail Extension project.

The primary objective of the study was to identify, redefine and environmentally entitle and facilitate the adoption of a Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) for the Eastside Corridor.

The work of the Eastside Corridor Transportation Consultants (ECTC) team has been divided into three phases. Phase I included studies necessary to provide the MTA Board with new LPA. Phase II included preparation of a draft SEIS/SEIR. Phase III included a final SEIS/SEIR including appropriate outreach. The mutual goal of the MTA and the team has been to establish a LPA of a rapid transit system that can feasibly be built to serve the transit- dependent population of the Eastside.

Metro Eastside Extension features include:
 · 6 miles of light rail service
 · Eight stations (two underground)
 · Twin tunnels (1.8 miles long) under Boyle Heights
 · Faster, easier access to 73 miles of Metro rail
   system
 · Estimated ride time of 17 minutes between Union
   Station and the Atlantic Station
