JGM is working as part of the Alameda Corridor Engineering Team to develop a four-lane expressway that will create a more efficient cargo movement system at the Los Angeles and Long Beach port complex. The SR-47 project will enhance the efficient, secure movement of goods and trade at the nation's
largest port complex, as well as reduce congestion, improve regional air quality and public safety.

A 2.2 mile expressway is being designed to replace the seismically deficient Schuyler Heim Bridge with a fixed-span bridge that will connect the port complex to major highways and transportation corridors. The SR-47 expressway will eliminate traffic congestion-producing signal lights, as well as five at grade crossings that will reduce congestion on the I-710, I-110 Freeways and surrounding bridges. The four alternatives range from 2.5 miles to 4 miles in length.

JGM prepared ROW and utility maps, identified the extent and type of property acquisition, and developed the cost estimates for ROW acquisition and utilities. In addition, JGM provided input to the environmental documents and Relocation Impact Study. The estimated costs for the right of way ranged from $16.6M to $64.5M, while the utilities costs ranged from $16M to $20M for the four alternatives studied.
