JGM was founded in 1981, and today is one of the largest minority-owned firms in the field (a certified MBE firm). The firm has demonstrated the technical ability and the financial stability required to conceptualize, develop, and implement projects of a broad range of building typologies. Headquartered in Los Angeles, our principals are engaged and available to meet with clients, staff, and stakeholders over the life of a project. CEO Ryan Gales, leads a staff of more than 40 professionals committed to providing the highest level of service to public and private sector clients.
The organization has grown significantly based on a collaboration of talent in the areas of key senior level personnel, size and types of projects completed, and proven competency as a professional services organization. JGM has provided numerous agencies throughout Southern California with a full range of services ranging from Urban Planning, Architectural Design, Civil and Transportation Engineering, as well as Program and Construction Management. JGM has been fortunate to fill significant roles for federal, state and local governments and a variety of civic organizations in the development of major institutional facilities, commercial buildings, transit/transportation, public works infrastructure, housing, and educational facilities. - Needs/Resources/Design Framework: This is a reiterative process aimed at Excellence in Design, in which Needs are determined through an ongoing discourse with Stake-holders; Resources encompass the assets and tools necessary for meeting these needs; and Design entails the development of procedural and physical alternatives that meet these needs within the resources available. Evaluation of successive alternatives within each Needs/Resources/Design cycle leads to excellence in Design.

Team Profiles

Ryan Gales
CEO
Ryan Gales has almost 15 years of providing outreach, training and development services. He has chaired job fairs, outreaching to DBE firms for the Crenshaw/LAX Metro Line in Los Angeles, and to individuals for the Indianapolis International Airport, where he also trained a staff of over 20. His experience as a project manager for former Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn provided him the experience in hosting outreach and community meetings in areas of Watts and South Los Angeles in developing plans of action to address “Quality of Life” issues. His extensive experience in the field has garnished him the ability to work closely with various city, county and local organizations.

Mark R. Colopy
President
Mark Colopy has more than 30 years of experience in the field of Architecture and Construction/ Project Management on major municipal and commercial facilities throughout the United States. As a principal architect, Mr. Colopy is responsible for project management, construction administration from schematic design through construction completion. Mark is adept at managing complex projects requiring the leadership necessary for achieving a well-orchestrated balance of monitoring, accountability, and communication.
He is well versed in current project and data control procedures, applying them to multi-phased, multi-task projects to achieve schedule and budgetary goals. His responsibilities include developing and maintaining client/owner and designer relationships; supervising and directing contractors and subcontractors; establishing and executing change orders and claims resolution means; providing contract procurement, administration, and monthly progress reporting; as well as cost control and budget/schedule updates. Other responsibilities include developed design and production budgets; led RFP’s for consultant services tracking billings and contract performance; chaired design presentations to clients; analysis of RFI’s from several projects to assess areas for improvement in project design and documentation; and maintained team meeting concept focusing and empowering each team member to perform autonomously and within the scope of design and production parameters.

Earl “EG” Gales III
Vice President
Earl “EG” Gales III is Systems Administrator with over 18 years of experience in project management and leadership spanning the education, transportation and consulting industries. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Earl attended UCLA in Westwood, California. After earning his bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Earl started his career in the construction industry with JGM, where he led projects for the design of computer networks for various construction projects for the Alameda Corridor. After earning his Microsoft Systems Engineering certifications, Earl joined the AECOM/JGM team to work with the Los Angeles Community District renovating and building new schools. Earl is a certified Cisco Associate and working toward becoming a Professional Project Manager (PMP). He enjoys spending time with his partner, Genn, and their two kids, Sung-hee and Min-Jee. His favorite past-times include golf, soccer, traveling, and fishing. Earl is also a frequent visitor to local sporting events to support his favorite basketball, baseball and soccer teams.

Efrain Sanchez
Project Architect
Efrain Sanchez is a California Licensed Architect with over 33 years’ experience as a job captain and project architect. He is recognized as a team player and innovative thinker in resolving design and construction issues. He is detail orientated, self-motivated, and able to anticipate possible obstacles and plan for them in concert with clients, governing officials, and the project team. Born into a bi-lingual household in Los Angeles, Mr. Sanchez is extremely fluent in both Spanish and English.
Our History
JGM evolved out of the leadership of its founder, Carey K. Jenkins, and a subsequent collaboration Earl E. Gales, Jr. Today, JGM has grown to merge the talents of architects, planners, engineers, urban designers, and construction specialists, led by CEO Ryan Gales.
