JGM in association with federal aviation companies in the United States served as master plan consultants for the Abidjam Airport in West Africa. JGM designed a one million square foot central terminal complex, a proposed automated people mover system on elevated guideways from the central terminal to the airline terminal building, a reconfigured airway system in the central terminal area and an automated baggage handling system between all airline terminal buildings and the central terminal complex. Included in the master plan were two additional runways, taxiways and aprons for the inclusion of B747 and L1011 aircraft. The preliminary master plan study was adopted and a design-build contract was later submitted. The basis for the contract was predicated on the results of the master plan study.
